CybaVerse Success Stories | Justin Hedgcock

At CybaVerse, it’s the people behind the business who make the real difference. Every team member brings their own journey, perspective and drive to the mission. In this Success Story, we spotlight Justin, our QA Software Tester, whose adaptability and quick thinking helps keep projects moving and partners fully supported. Justin shares how his career has evolved, what inspired him to join CybaVerse and the role he plays in driving impact across the business.

How did your background and career path lead you to CybaVerse, and what attracted you to the company?

I have spent over 18 years in the software industry, starting in support before moving into QA and eventually senior leadership roles like Senior Test Engineer, Scrum Master and Principal Test Engineer.

Along the way, I’ve led testing strategy, introduced Agile practices, built automation frameworks and focused on improving quality and delivery. That journey has given me a really well rounded view of the full development lifecycle.

How do your educational and professional experiences support the work you do at CybaVerse today?

My background blends technical testing expertise with Agile leadership. Being a Certified Scrum Master and having worked across multiple roles means I understand both the technical and people side of delivery which helps me drive quality while keeping teams aligned and focused

What unique skills, experiences, or perspectives do you bring to your role at CybaVerse?

Adaptability is a big one!

I’ve worn a lot of hats, so I can step into different situations and add value quickly. I like to think I bring a structured, detail focused approach to testing, strong collaboration skills and a mindset of continuous improvement.

What kinds of projects and activities have you been involved in, and are there any standout moments that were especially memorable?

A key area I have worked on is the new platform, CybaOps, where I have been involved in validating functionality, identifying defects, regression testing and helping to ensure new features are delivered to a high standard before release.

Working on the new platform has been particularly rewarding, as it has required close collaboration with developers and other team members to refine features and improve overall performance and usability. A standout moment for me has been seeing features I have thoroughly tested go live successfully, knowing I have played a part in delivering a stable and reliable product that supports both the business and its clients.

What do you think makes CybaVerse a unique place to work, and how does the company encourage a positive, inclusive culture?

It is a fast growing, cyber security company focused on innovation and the continued development of its CybaOps platform. Employees work towards a shared goal and collaborate closely to achieve it, creating a strong sense of teamwork.

It fosters a positive and inclusive culture by promoting mutual support, recognising achievements in a growth oriented environment.

Have you undertaken or plan to undertake any training or development that will assist with your role at CybaVerse?

I am busy with my ISTQB and really enjoying it. Continuous learning is important to me. I stay up to date with new testing tools, automation practices and Agile trends, and I’m always looking to further develop both technically and professionally.

What are your hobbies or passions outside of work?

I enjoy reading, Crossfit, gaming, walking my dog Callam and learning new technical skills, especially programming and automation. I also volunteer locally and like taking on charity challenges.

Staying active with my family keeps me balanced.

If you could give one piece of advice to new employees joining CybaVerse, what would it be?

It would be to be proactive and make the most of every learning opportunity. Be curious, ask questions and taking initiative will help you grow quickly.

Get involved with the teams early on and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone
