CybaVerse Success Stories | Lucy Wightman

At CybaVerse, we believe every team member brings a unique story shaped by experience, growth, and the impact they make every day. In this Success Story, we hear from Lucy, Project Manager at CybaVerse, who plays a key role in keeping projects on track and partners supported. Here, Lucy shares her career journey, what drew her to CybaVerse, and the impact she continues to make across the business.

How did your background and career path lead you to CybaVerse, and what attracted you to the company?

My background spans administration, corporate finance, and credit underwriting. I also spent several years working in a contracts administration role within rebate finance, where I developed a real appreciation for organisation and spreadsheets. Before joining CybaVerse, I spent five and a half years working as a Project Manager, where I was responsible for forecasting penetration testing workloads, managing CHECK-related activity, and supporting a wide range of different areas. During that time, I realised how much I enjoyed working in a fast-paced industry that is constantly evolving, and I felt ready for a new challenge.

I was super excited to start at CybaVerse. My values aligned strongly with the company, and from my very first interaction the culture felt welcoming and supportive. Everyone I spoke to was professional, friendly, and helpful, and I immediately felt supported. It truly feels like being part of one large, supportive team, where people are comfortable being themselves and ready to step in when challenges arise.

I also love working with the CybaOps platform. It is innovative and user friendly.

How do your educational and professional experiences support the work you do at CybaVerse today?

My previous experience gave me a strong foundation of confidence and practical knowledge that has been invaluable in my current role. Having the opportunity to focus on a defined area of the business, rather than being stretched across multiple functions, has been particularly rewarding.

What unique skills, experiences, or perspectives do you bring to your role at CybaVerse?

Organisation, process improvement, and open, honest communication are key strengths of mine. I am always open to change and value constructive feedback.

I have also completed Levels 2 and 3 in counselling studies. While this has been important for my own personal development, it has also shaped how I engage with others, helping me approach situations with empathy and care.

What kinds of projects and activities have you been involved in, and are there any standout moments that were especially memorable?

I regularly speak with partners and new customers, guiding them through our processes and providing updates on projects, penetration testing, and Cyber Essentials. Over the past six months, I have focused on refining processes and improving communication.

One particularly memorable moment was being recognised at the most recent End of Quarter awards, where I received both the Charismatic Engagement Award and Employee of the Quarter. It was incredibly meaningful to feel so valued and appreciated, and I am very grateful to have such a supportive manager.

What do you think makes CybaVerse a unique place to work, and how does the company encourage a positive, inclusive culture?

CybaVerse has an inclusive and friendly environment where everyone is accepted for being themselves. The pace can be demanding at times but there is also room to have fun. The team’s work ethic is impressive, and there is a shared positive attitude where everyone is willing to help one another.

Have you undertaken or plan to undertake any training or development that will assist with your role at CybaVerse?

At the moment, I am focused on continuing to grow in my current role. I am interested in developing a deeper understanding of the technical side of the business and seeing where this role takes me in terms of personal and professional development.

What are your hobbies or passions outside of work?

Outside of work, I love my gym classes, which I attend both before and after work. Combat is a particular favourite, alongside strength training. I also enjoy long walks with my partner, live music, and a beer or a glass of wine.

If you could give one piece of advice to new employees joining CybaVerse, what would it be?

Be yourself, quirks and all. Work hard, look for ways to add value and never be afraid to go the extra mile. I have always said that our customers should be looked after, because everything we do ultimately exists to support them.
